The Pickering Ministries started in 1944 in their great-grandfather's church in Allentown , PA. with the grandparents and the father of Max, Sharon, Don and Dean. Traveling throughout the United States in full time evangelism from 1957 through 1977. In 1986 Max and Dean felt the call to continue on the road where their Dad left off and have been on the road ever since. Sharing the Gospel through music to see souls saved has been the reason for the continuing of this Ministry.

We invite everyone to this Community Wide Concert at the Peace River Baptist Church , in Punta Gorda.    The church is located on the corner of McKenzie and Berry Street , across from the Life Care Center in Punta Gorda.

Sunday, January 27, 2008
6:00 PM

Peace River Baptist Church
478 Berry Street , Punta Gorda

We are privileged to be able to share the stage with Tim Lovelace on January 27th.   Tim is a nationally sought after comedian, emcee and motivational speaker.  He has traveled many years spreading the joy of Jesus Christ.  His tenure with the Florida Boys, Kingsmen, and Jake Hess afforded him the opportunity to display his God-given talents as a comedian, musician, and songwriter.

Tim as been featured on Gospel Music Television, TNN, TBN, Christian cruises, corporate meetings, banquets and national conventions.  He was also featured on the multi-platinum Gaither video Joy in the Camp where his comedy rendition of The Fourth Man has been described as the funniest moment captured on the Gaither Series.   This hilarious segment is also featured on the Bloopers video.  Many of his comedy songs, such as Don’t Sit in My Pew and The Wall Song have received national radio chart success.

Tim has often been described as a natural comedian.  His versatility and adaptability appeal to audiences of all ages.  Tim says of himself,  “Since I was born with an IQ of six and relapsed twice, I actually believe that if ignorance is bliss… I’m blistered.”

Tim not only does comedy engagements by himself, but also does a limited number of concerts a year with his extremely talented singing and songwriting wife, Mary Alice.  Tim laughingly describes the two of them as Princess Grace and Barney Fife.  The Lovelaces’ latest comedy video is “Laughin’ With The Lovelaces.”

Tim believes that comedy is one of the greatest tools in the Kingdom when it is built on a foundation of ministry.

Tim has received and been nominated for a number of awards and nominations over the years… including BMI Songwriting and Publishing Award and the Instrumentalist of the Year to name a few.

His Four singers enliven Englewood

On the heels of a successful Saturday evening concert at Punta Gorda's Church of God of Prophecy, Florida's gospel quartet, His Four, presented a special musical service at Gulf Cove's United Methodist Church to a sanctuary crowded with fans of all ages.

"I just love them!" declared Jerri McCarthy. "My grandson, Cody Patterson, and I saw them last year and can't wait to hear them again."

Young Cody was too shy to say a word but rapidly shook his head up and down in agreement.

"They have a wonderful sense of humor when they perform and they sound so beautiful," added Dale Martin. Her son, Joseph Lamitie, bought a His Four tape last year. Martin plays it all the time and enjoys each song so well, she doesn't have a particular favorite.

"O What a Time," the group's ninth recording, features several songs introduced during Sunday's concert; copies were sold in the vestry and are available at Gospel Gifts in Port Charlotte.

His Four began its odyssey in 1990 as a part-time musical ministry. The group now performs more than 50 concerts per year, even though its members hold down full-time jobs: tax accounting, cabinetry, electrician and funeral home director.

Lead vocalist Jim Reuter and rumbly-voiced bass Larry Taylor helped form the group in 1990. Reuter's wife of 29 years, Cheryl, began singing tenor in 1991 and baritone Dan Serrell joined three years ago.

His Four recently won 2002 Gospel Post Fan Awards (Florida Gospel Music Association): Mixed Group of the Year; Alto Vocal of the Year (Cheryl Reuter); Baritone Vocal of the Year (Jim Reuter); Sound Technician of the Year (Terry Merriman, His Four technician for the past three years).

His Four presented a special children's message in song to the church's youngsters, then sang nearly a dozen gospel hymns in every imaginable rhythm and harmony. Their message was universally upbeat, their voices lyrical and the audience responded with applause, toe-tapping and swaying to the rhythms.

"We like to be cognizant of the more mature audience we have in Charlotte County," offered Cheryl Reuter Sunday morning. "They really like us because we don't blow off their ears and we also sing a great variety of music. They like to buy our tapes and play them again and again. We genuinely believe in our musical ministry. People tell us how much comfort and peace our music gives them, but it's a real blessing for us, too."
